In Sunday’s (5/22) Democrat and Chronicle (Rochester, New York), Anna Reguero writes, “It has been a long season of goodbyes for Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra’s long-time music director Christopher Seaman, who has sprinkled the season with his favorite repertoire and even a live, commercial recording to be released next year. But the countdown begins now: There is only one final concert weekend before he officially steps down and hands the baton over to Arild Remmereit. In his 13 years at the helm of the orchestra, Seaman has been responsible for increasing the level of music making of the RPO and community engagement through his pre-concert chats and Symphony 101 and 201 concerts. He will have made three successful commercial recordings with the RPO. He oversaw the building and completion of the Eastman Theatre expansion project, which included an overhaul of what’s now Kodak Hall and the brand new Eastman School of Music’s East Wing.’ Seaman praises the orchestra’s effort in performance. ‘Without exception, every concert I’ve done in 13 years has given me a real buzz from the fact that everybody goes for it. The orchestra has an ability, whatever piece we’re playing, to put on the right costume. So the Mozart sounds like Mozart.’ ”
