The Spokane Symphony will pay tribute to Arthur Fiedler, conductor of the Boston Pops from 1930 to 1979, at its November 14 concert entitled “Salute to Evening at the Pops” at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox in Spokane, Washington. Assistant Conductor Jorge Luis Uzcátegui will lead the orchestra in music performed on Fiedler’s longtime PBS Evening at the Pops programs on television. Music on the orchestra’s “Salute to Evening at Pops” program of light classics will include LeRoy Anderson’s The Typewriter, “Hoe Down” from Copland’s Rodeo, Ponchielli’s “Dance of the Hours,” Stravinsky’s The Firebird, Joplin’s “The Entertainer,” and John Williams’s “Duel of the Fates” from the 1999 Star Wars movie The Phantom Menace.
