In Wednesday’s (7/29) Philadelphia Inquirer , Peter Dobrin reports, “Following in the footsteps of James Taylor, Billy Joel, and Rod Stewart, Sting will be the special guest artist at the Academy of Music Anniversary Concert and Ball this winter. Sting and his band will perform some of his best-known songs, with the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by David Hartley, at the Academy of Music on Jan. 30. Leading the purely classical slice of the program will be Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, the esteemed Spanish conductor, who has a strong, established relationship with the orchestra. Program details were not available yesterday, a spokeswoman said.”
