In the Augusta Chronicle (Georgia) on Monday (3/9), Meg Mirshak writes, “Symphony Orchestra Augusta selected Anne Catherine Murray, a historic preservationist, as its next executive director to lead the music group in the ongoing renovation of the historic Miller Theater.” She began the job on March 1, succeeding Mieko Hatano, “who stepped down in October after slightly more than two years with the organization. Murray has helped lead historic rehabs of several Augusta buildings including Enterprise Mill, Sutherland Mill and the William Robinson Schoolhouse during her tenure as vice president and project manager of Flywheel, a company founded by Augusta businessman Clay Boardman. She was president of Turn Back the Block, a nonprofit organization that restored homes in the Harrisburg neighborhood to elevate the number of owner-occupied homes in the community.… Murray is originally from Chapel Hill, N.C., and has lived in Augusta since 1996. She is a graduate of Washington and Lee University and earned a Masters in Historic Preservation at the University of Georgia. Before moving to Augusta, she was the revolving fund director for the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation.”
