Last May we launched SymphonyNOW, a free online magazine produced by the editors of Symphony. Updated weekly, SymphonyNOW tackles issues critical to the field much the same as Symphony but with more timely reporting, videos and other visual content, and opportunities for readers to weigh in on controversial topics like the role of the critic and noise in the concert hall.

Since the launch, SymphonyNOW has featured nearly 100 articles on everything from new music directors to innovative marketing campaigns to thriving education initiatives. In case you missed them, here are three most-read stories from 2011.

#1: Hawaiian Sunrise: The Honolulu Symphony Orchestra went bankrupt last fall—but musicians and donors plan a new Hawaii Symphony
#2: Occupy Wall Street, Cello Edition: Cellist Matt Haimovitz reports from Zucotti Park, where he joined the 99%, performed on his vintage cello, and brought Bach to Wall Street
#3: Orchestras at the Crossroads: Frank talk from League President and CEO Jesse Rosen about the challenges that orchestras are confronting
