Musicians of Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay Symphony Community Orchestra.

In Monday’s (10-21) What’s Up Newp (Newport, Rhode Island), Ryan Belmore writes, “The Narragansett Bay Symphony Community Orchestra (NaBSCO) will kick off its 2024-2025 season with a concert on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. The concert will take place in the auditorium of East Providence High School … The performance will feature guest conductor Zeke Fetrow and three pieces: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ‘Marche Slave,’ Maurice Ravel’s ‘Le Tombeau de Couperin,’ and Florence Price’s Symphony No. 3 in C minor. ‘Le Tombeau de Couperin,’ a work in memoriam, is dedicated to the memory of Ravel’s friends who died fighting in WWI. Price’s Symphony No. 3 in C minor is known for its emotional warmth. Notably, Price’s first symphony was the first by a Black woman to be performed by a major American orchestra. Admission for the concert is ‘Pay what you think is fair.’ Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to support the RI Community Food Bank.”
