At the finals concert of the 2013 Cooper International Violin Competition in Ohio on July 25, two winners were announced: Kyumin Park (16, South Korea) and William Chin-Yi Wei (18, Taiwan). The competition results were announced from the Severance Hall stage, following the soloists’ performances with the Cleveland Orchestra. Second prize was awarded to Ming Liu (China, 18). Park and Wei each receive $10,000 in prize money, with $6,000 going to Liu. Wei also won the $500 audience prize. All three winners receive a full scholarship to attend the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where the competition is held. The jury for the competition included Oberlin Conservatory faculty as well as faculty from New York University’s Steinhardt School, the New England Conservatory of Music, China Conservatory of Music, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Royal Danish Academy.
