“The Springfield Symphony Orchestra will present ‘Video Games Live,’ an extravagant, immersive event blending the symphonic and rock worlds” on May 13, writes Clifton Noble in Wednesday’s (5/3) Republican (Springfield, Mass.). Video Games Live is the “brainchild of Springfield native Tommy Tallarico…. Tallarico’s childhood in Springfield’s Sixteen Acres neighborhood was filled with music. There was a piano in the house, and his parents went to Springfield Symphony concerts frequently…. ‘My mom and dad were always interested in music,’ he remembered, ‘and my grandparents were in a band together—the Tallaricos—and I have a very famous cousin, Steven Tallarico. You might know him better as Steven Tyler (lead singer of the rock band Aerosmith).’ … Tallarico created the ‘Video Games Live’ show in 2002…. Since that time Tallarico has played ‘Video Games Live’ over 420 times—some 40-50 concerts a year for 13 years.” Says Tallarico, “When we perform in … Springfield Symphony Hall with the Symphony Orchestra and you’re gonna look around in the audience and 60-70 percent of the audience will be seeing the Symphony for the first time, and they’ll be between the ages of 18 and 30.”
