In Tuesday’s (12/20) Courier-News (Elgin, Illinois), a staff reporter writes, “Area dancers from Midwest Dance Collective, under the direction of Barrington native Ellen Werksman, performed recently with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra (ESO) for their Holiday Concert, which was attended by more than 3,000 people. ESO representative Wendy Evans said: ‘The dancers were a lovely addition to our concert and they are all so talented. They were definitely an audience favorite.’ MDC’s Professional Company also performs with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra for their in-school concert series. The previous week MDC dancers were seen by audience members from all over the world as they performed as part of the city of Chicago’s ‘Holiday Delights’ at O’Hare Airport’s International Terminal. The ensemble was invited 15 years ago by Mayor Richard M. Daley to be the first ensemble to present dance at the airport, and since have been asked back every season. ‘It is so wonderful to see the positive audience response,’ director Ellen Werksman said.”
