Megan Yingst.
Megan Yingst has been appointed interim chief operating officer at the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic, based in Alexandria, Virginia. She succeeds Caroline Mousset, who was at the organization for seven years. Yingst previously spent five years teaching middle school and high school choir in Title I public schools in Polk County, Florida and Baltimore County, Maryland. After relocating to Alexandria in 2022, she started a private music studio, teaching voice, piano, and exploratory music lessons to students ages 4 to 64. From 2023 to 2025, she served as executive director of the Alexandria Choral Society, leading the organization through its 55th season. This included spearheading the inaugural One Voice Alexandria Choral Festival, which showcased more than 450 singers from across the city, as well as a tour of Scotland and Ireland. Yingst is currently in her second season as assistant artistic and outreach director of the Alexandria Children’s Chorus, where she teaches the Concert Chorus and helps the organization connect with the community.
