West Virginia’s Wheeling Symphony Orchestra and Music Director John Devlin.

In WTRF News (Wheeling, West Virginia), Brendan McNamara writes, “In just 10 days the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra will open its 95th season at the Capitol Theater in a big way. It’s the legacy of the WSO, a concert to honor the past while celebrating the current musical talent. The concert will include nine soloists who are WSO musicians and local artists. The night also features several historic references, from a piece played at the inaugural concert at Oglebay Park, to paying homage to two Wheeling artists who became nationally known. ‘This is just the start of the season. So, we’ve got seven great concerts here at the Capitol Theater and you can actually buy a subscription package for the whole season if you’d like, and that gets you a great discount. But we’d love to see everyone come any time of this season to help celebrate 95 years with us,’ said WSO Executive Director Sonja Thoms. The concert will start at 7:30 pm, however there will be a pre-concert Celebration in the Capitol Theater Ballroom.”
