In Monday’s (6/18) Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Jim Higgins writes, “After the final notes of the ‘Toy Story’ score have sounded on June 23, the full Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra will have played 130 concerts during the 2023-24 season, 109 of those in the friendly confines of the Bradley Symphony Center. That’s more home games than the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers combined…. During the past year, key new musicians have joined the orchestra, and the MSO has introduced new forms of performance and public outreach … This was music director Ken-David Masur’s fifth season as the MSO’s leader…. Masur signed a contract extension that keeps him here through the 2025-26 season…. Masur brought bass-baritone Dashon Burton aboard as the MSO’s artistic partner … Masur … has appointed 20 new musicians so far … The MSO enjoyed multiple sold-out concerts this season … The MSO also announced that trumpeter-conductor Byron Stripling will become principal Pops conductor in 2024-25 … The MSO continues to expand and experiment in educational and public outreach and as a presenter…. The MSO’s longstanding Arts in Community Education program made 287 in-school visits during the past season.”
