In Tuesday’s (9/30) Springfield News-Sun (Ohio), Michael Cooper reports, “Springfield Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Robyn Zimmann has resigned her post due to undisclosed health reasons, according to the symphony’s Board of Trustees. Zimmann’s resignation is effective Oct. 31. The South High School and Wittenberg University graduate was hired in June of 2013 to replace former director David Deitrick. Zimmann is leaving the orchestra in great shape for the future, said Board of Trustees President Doug Deer. ‘With Robyn’s hard work the last couple years and Dave Deitrick before that, those are all the reasons, along with the board, that we’re in a good position,’ he said…. Zimmann served as the symphony’s Director of Operations and Education for nine years prior to becoming director and was also a member of the orchestra’s French horn section for 35 years. Zimmann has been involved with the symphony for five decades. She began her career playing with the orchestra’s youth symphony in the 1970s…. It’s going to be a great job for the next person to come along, she said…. ‘We’ve got a wonderful city, a beautiful Performing Arts Center, a great orchestra, a great staff and board,’ Zimmann said.”
