EDWARD MANNO SHUMSKY has been elected chairman of the Board of Trustees of the New World Symphony, the Miami Beach-based orchestral academy, succeeding ROSE ELLEN MEYERHOFF GREENE. A trustee of the organization since 2007, Shumsky has chaired its Nominating and Governance Committee as well as serving on the Executive and Facilities committees and as co-chair of the 2011 Opening Gala for NWS’s New World Center. An attorney with degrees from Muhlenberg College and the Carey School of Law at the University of Maryland, Shumsky is a former New York regional director for the Federal Trade Commission, and was a White House Presidential Exchange executive with Merrill Lynch. Early in his career he practiced antitrust law in Washington and New York.
