Five composers have been awarded commissions by the Serge Koussevitzky Music Foundation at the Library of Congress, in Washington, D.C. The five, and the groups co-sponsoring their commissions, are Lei Liang and the Art of Élan for the Formosa Quartet; Colin Matthews and the London Sinfonietta; Bent Sørensen and Quattro Mani; Dan Visconti and the California Symphony Orchestra; and Nina C. Young and the Nouveau Classical Project. The commissions are granted jointly by the Koussevitzky Music Foundation and the performing organizations that will perform the new works. The Koussevitzky commissioning program is designed primarily for established composers with a record of excellence in contemporary music for orchestras and chamber groups.
