Three additions to the musician roster have been announced by the Buffalo (N.Y.) Philharmonic: HENRY WARD, principal oboe; JOSHUA LAURETIG, second oboe; and SHERYL LYNN HADEKA, section French horn.
Henry Ward had served as acting principal oboe in Buffalo since January 2016, and before that was acting principal oboe at the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. A former fellow with the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Ward has performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra and the Auckland Philharmonia in New Zealand. He holds a bachelor’s degree from New England Conservatory and pursued graduate studies at Roosevelt University.
Joshua Lauretig, a 2016 graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, has performed as substitute second oboe in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and participated in the Sarasota (Fla.) Music Festival and the Moritzburg Festival Academy in Germany. He was also a substitute at the Pittsburgh and New Haven symphony orchestras.
Sheryl Lynn Hadeka was most recently associate principal horn in the Omaha (Neb.) Symphony, and has held posts at the New Mexico Philharmonic, Tucson Symphony, Santa Fe Symphony, and Louisiana Philharmonic. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the Eastman School of Music and a master’s from Southern Methodist University.
