California’s San Diego Symphony has promoted SAMEER PATEL from assistant conductor to associate conductor and extended his contract through the 2007-18 season. The orchestra has also announced the appointment of CHELSEA ALLEN as manager of community engagement.

Sameer Patel spent three seasons as associate conductor of the Fort Wayne (Ind.) Philharmonic prior to joining the San Diego Symphony’s conducting staff in 2015, and held a conducting fellowship with the Chicago Sinfonietta’s Project Inclusion. He was one of six conductors selected for the League of American Orchestras’ 2013 Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview with the Jacksonville (Fla.) Symphony Orchestra.

Chelsea Allen has worked in the music department of the William Morris Endeavor talent agency; in community-engagement activities in China, India, and Jordan; and as tour leader for her a cappella group Shades. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Yale University.
