“As Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra musicians prepared to play Thursday evening, they got one last warning, one they had likely never heard before from MSO director of operations John Roloff: ‘Stay near the sideline. I don’t want any of you to get tackled,’ ” writes Mark Kass in Friday’s (10/21) Milwaukee Business Journal. “But such a warning was necessary as the MSO made its first trip to Lambeau Field in Green Bay to play the National Anthem and a two-song halftime show that drew loud applause from the nearly 80,000 fans in attendance for the Green Bay Packers game against the Chicago Bears. They also surprised fans with a flash mob in the Lambeau Field Atrium as several members played ‘Sweet Caroline,’ with others helping the crowd sing along. … It was quite an evening for 56 musicians and 54 chorus members who made the two-hour trip in four buses to perform for the nationally televised football game. … Violinist Frank Almond said he was looking forward to the special evening. ‘It will be a lot of fun to be on the field and perform,’ he said. … Assistant conductor Yaniv Dinur wore a Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers jersey.” An extensive slideshow accompanies the article.
