“The Santa Fe Symphony and Chorus announced Thursday that Daniel Crupi, 29, will become its new executive director on March 14,” reads an unsigned article in Thursday’s (1/3) New Mexican. He succeeds Gregory W. Heltman, “who founded the organization in 1984…. Crupi … became chief operating officer of the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra in 2016, following three years as that organization’s director of development and public relations. His responsibilities included the orchestra’s fundraising, community engagement, financial and artistic operations. In a news release, Crupi noted Santa Fe’s unique and vibrant arts community, and he said he is eager to work with [Principal Conductor Guillermo] Figueroa and the symphony’s board and staff…. Crupi is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where, as a singer, he received his bachelor’s degree in music. He earned a master’s degree in music in 2013 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro….. In Santa Fe, he will oversee an administrative staff of six and will manage an annual budget of approximately $1.3 million…. The Santa Fe Symphony consists of 56 tenured professional musicians … supplemented by additional players as required by repertoire. The Symphony Chorus is a mostly volunteer ensemble.”
