Florida’s Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra has announced the appointment of MARY PALMER and MARK FISCHER as acting co-executive directors. They will replace Executive Director Christopher T. Barton, who has resigned. Barton joined the Philharmonic as executive director in August of 2016. Mary Palmer is the current president of the Orlando Philharmonic’s board of directors and is a music educator, author, and philanthropist in Central Florida. Mark Fischer is a founding musician of the orchestra and a 26-year member of the staff leadership, with positions including general manager and director of artistic operations, where he leads the production and artistic endeavors of the Philharmonic. The Orlando Philharmonic is currently in its 26th season, and in fall of 2020 will move to Steinmetz Hall at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. Eric Jacobsen is the orchestra’s music director. A search committee is being formed to seek a full-time executive director.
