Conductor DAVID ALAN MILLER has been appointed artistic advisor of New York City’s Little Orchestra Society, effective May 1, 2019. He will work with Executive Director Joanne Bernstein-Cohen and the board to continue the orchestra’s mission of producing concerts, music education, and community engagement programming for audiences of all ages. Miller, currently music director of the Albany Symphony in New York, has worked with the Little Orchestra for seven years as a guest conductor for performances at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, New York City Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College. In the 2019-20 season, Miller is scheduled to conduct the L.O.S. KIDS concert series, and will also be involved with the Little Orchestra Society’s Musical Connections: The School Partnership Program. Music director of the Albany Symphony since 1992, Miller has also conducted major orchestras throughout the U.S. and internationally. The Little Orchestra Society performed its inaugural concert 1947. Last season, the Little Orchestra Society reached nearly 25,000 New York City area children, adults, and seniors, many of whom attended concerts free of charge through the orchestra’s music education and community engagement programs.
