The Austin Symphony Orchestra in Texas has appointed Anthony Corroa as executive director, effective immediately. He replaces Galen Wixson, whose last day in that position was August 31. The appointment was announced on Thursday by ASO President Joe R. Long. Corroa has served as the ASO’s operations manager since 2000 and previously served as general manager of the Baton Rouge Symphony. A trumpet player, Corroa graduated from Louisiana State University and has worked extensively as a musician as well as an arts administrator.
