Friday’s (2/12) News Sentinel (Knoxville, Tennessee) reports, “Marking 75 years of music and cultural enrichment in East Tennessee, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will kick off its 2010-11 season with a special collaborative performance of Peter Shaffer’s ‘Amadeus’ with the Clarence Brown Theatre Sept. 8-19. … Tickets for the collaboration are available as an add-on to KSO and CBT subscriptions for a special subscriber price of $45 for opening night and weekend shows, and $35 for weeknight shows. Subscriptions for the KSO’s 2010-11 Moxley Carmichael Masterworks season go on sale today, and some events of note include: a Tchaikovsky Spectacular, Sept. 23 and 24; a celebration of the music of George Gershwin Oct. 21 and 22; a 75th anniversary celebration Nov. 18 and 19, in which the KSO will look back over its previous seasons; a return to the KSO stage of conductor emeritus Kirk Trevor on March 24 and 25; and a Rachmaninoff Paganini Rhapsody May 19 and 20. … As the KSO seeks a replacement for retired concertmaster Mark Zelmanovich, three free concerts will be presented throughout the season in which finalists for the concertmaster’s position will perform with the KSO.”
