“Less than one month after coming back from a hiatus brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cleveland Orchestra has canceled both of its weekend concerts due to a performer testing positive for COVID-19,” reports Hope Sloop in Sunday’s (11/14) WKYC TV (Cleveland). “The iconic institution is currently in the middle of its ‘Pictures at an Art Exhibition’ series, conducted by Thierry Fischer. Saturday’s performance was shut down first before Sunday’s was scrapped as well. ‘The Cleveland Orchestra regrets having to cancel its November 14 “Pictures at an Exhibition” concert at Severance,’ the orchestra said in a statement…. ‘This cancellation is due to a positive COVID case in the Orchestra, and is in accordance with our COVID protocols developed in collaboration with the Cleveland Clinic to protect our musicians, staff, volunteers, and audience members.’ According to the Cleveland Orchestra’s website, ticket holders for both shows have been provided with a response form that allows them to donate their tickets as a tax-deductible contribution or request a full refund. The orchestra is also allowing fans to exchange their tickets for a different performance.”
