The Asheville Symphony will launch its 2021-22 masterworks season on November 20 with a program featuring music by J.S. Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Errolyn Wallen at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium at Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina. Music Director Darko Butorac will conduct the program, featuring Bach’s Double Violin Concerto with guest violinists Alina Kobialka and Megan Lin; Wallen’s Mighty River, a piece inspired by spirituals and gospel that explores themes of freedom and slavery; and Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. “The Asheville Symphony hasn’t been able to perform together on our home stage since February of 2020, so this concert is especially meaningful,” said ASO Executive Director Daniel Crupi. “We are excited to bring live symphonic music back to Thomas Wolfe Auditorium and provide a joyful and safe concert experience for our community.” ASO’s COVID-19 safety policies and procedures align the policy of Thomas Wolfe Auditorium; masks will be required for attendees, vendors, and staff unless actively eating or drinking. Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (or a negative result of a COVID-19 diagnostic test taken within 72 hours of the event) will be required to enter Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville.
