“Orange County’s Pacific Symphony will welcome a slate of guest conductors, premiere a new work by composer-in-residence Viet Cuong and participate in the inaugural season of California Festival: A Celebration of New Music with the state’s other top orchestras during its 2023-24 season,” writes Jeffrey Miller in Tuesday’s (2/21) Orange County Register. “In September, Pacific Symphony announced that [Music Director Carl] St.Clair’s contract had been renewed for at least two more years, but the orchestra would begin its search for a successor for the 70-year-old conductor, who has been at the helm since 1990. Symphony President John Forsyte said the committee doing the search includes members of the symphony’s board and management, plus members of the orchestra and the committee…. Eight guest conductors will lead the symphony during the 2023-24 season….
