The National Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of STEVEN REINEKE as principal pops conductor, effective in September 2011. He is now in his second season as music director of the New York Pops, which recently announced a five-year renewal of his contract, through the 2015-16 season. Reineke also holds principal pops conductor posts at two California orchestras, the Long Beach and Modesto symphonies. He received early training with the late Erich Kunzel, conductor of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, with whom he spent fifteen years as a composer, arranger, and conducting assistant.
