From the Top, the hourlong weekly NPR radio program hosted by pianist Christopher O’Riley, has announced that it is seeking young classical musicians ages 8 to 18 from families of the military to audition for its live show to air on June 27, 2012. Solo performers of all instruments, as well as vocalists and composers, have until March 30 to apply for inclusion in the episode, which is presented by the Military Child Education Coalition and will take place at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas. Founded in 1998, the Military Child Education Coalition is a nonprofit leadership and advocacy organization that supports educational opportunities for children in military-connected families affected by mobility, family separation, and transition.
