In Thursday’s (4/12) Post-Bulletin (Austin, Minnesota), Kay Fate writes, “It will be the homecoming concert of the Austin Symphony Orchestra season at 2 p.m. Sunday at Knowlton Auditorium at Austin High School. The featured soloists are the two winners of the Third Annual Young Artists competition. Bobby Levenger, from La Crosse, Wis., will perform Grieg’s piano concerto; Jennifer Kim of Rochester will play a violin concerto by Bruch. … The guest conductor for the opening piece, ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor,’ is Richard Larson, who served as music coordinator and choral conductor in Austin from 1966 to 1982. He was the artistic director and conductor of the Austin Symphony Orchestra and Chorus from 1972 to 1982. … The second half of the concert will be Symphony No. 2 by Sibelius, performed by the Austin Symphony Orchestra along with 35 former members of the orchestra who are coming from Montana, New York and several Midwestern states.”
