A report in Monday’s (11/19) Sun Herald (Mississippi) states, “The Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra recently announced that Whitney Sumrall has been named the organization’s new executive director. Sumrall, a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, graduated from Gulfport High School in 2001 and attended the University of Southern Mississippi for three years. Following Hurricane Katrina, Sumrall received a Bachelor of Science degree in general studies with an emphasis in psychology from William Carey College. She then completed her Master of Business Administration Degree in 2007 from William Carey University in Gulfport, where she was a President’s List scholar. Sumrall served as a community director for the March of Dimes beginning in January 2008. While with the March of Dimes, her territory included numerous counties in Mississippi. Sumrall is currently a member of Coast Young Professionals, Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi/Ocean Springs and is a Police Athletic League volunteer.”
