An unsigned piece in Wednesday’s (7/24) Hamlet Hub (Ridgefield, Connecticut), reads, “As the world held its breath this week and waited for news of the royal birth, the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra had the perfect baby gift ready to go—without consulting any kind of registry. Within just days, ‘Sweet Dreams,’ a new CD of lullabies from around the world, was in the mail to the royal couple with a personal note from the RSO’s Executive Director, Gina Wilson. It read: ‘Your Royal Highnesses: The enclosed CD of beloved lullabies from around the world, “Sweet Dreams,” is the recent outcome of our non-profit community orchestra’s collaboration with The Spratt Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of nearby Danbury, Connecticut Hospital.… It was a labor of love by our musicians and a project team including many members of the community. It responds to our understanding of much research that shows the therapeutic benefits newborn babies can receive from music. The hospital plays the lullabies over the sound system in the neonatal unit, and families are given a gift of the CD when they take their children home. We are delighted to present a copy of the album to Your Royal Highnesses with our sincerest congratulations on your son’s birth.’ ”
