The Philadelphia Orchestra has announced the promotion of RYAN FLEUR to executive director, effective immediately. Fleur served for six years as the orchestra’s executive vice president of orchestra advancement, and also served as interim president prior to the appointment of President and CEO Matías Tarnopolsky in March 2018. At the Philadelphia Orchestra, Fleur has been involved in most aspects of the organization’s work and has led or supervised projects and departments, including global initiatives, operations, digital media, marketing, human resources, information technology, and TicketPhiladelphia. Prior to the Philadelphia Orchestra, Fleur was president and CEO of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and executive director of the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston. He studied economics and business at Boston University and participated in the League of American Orchestras’ 1996-97 Orchestra Management Fellowship Program, during which he gained leadership experience at the San Francisco Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, and New Jersey Symphony. Fleur began his career as a pianist.
