The Phoenix Symphony has announced contract extensions through 2022 for Music Director TITO MUÑOZ and President and Chief Executive Officer JIM WARD.

Jim Ward originally joined the Phoenix Symphony in 2010 as a volunteer consultant, then served as interim CEO, and for the past seven years has been the orchestra’s president and CEO. Under Ward’s leadership, the organization has stabilized its finances, successfully negotiated a multi-year contract with the musicians, and refocused the orchestra’s community impact with a number of projects, several of which relate to music and wellness and Alzheimer’s research.

Tito Muñoz is currently finishing his fourth season as music director of the Phoenix Symphony. He previously served as music director of the Opéra National de Lorraine and the Orchestre symphonique et lyrique de Nancy in France. Prior appointments include assistant conductor positions with the Cleveland Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, and the Aspen Music Festival. He has led orchestras throughout the U.S. and abroad, and is a proponent of new music, championing contemporary composers through programming, commissions, premieres, and recordings.
