Utah Symphony ǀ Utah Opera has announced the appointment of MADELINE ADKINS as concertmaster. She goes to the Salt Lake City-based organization from the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, where she had served as associate concertmaster since 2005 and previously spent five years as assistant concertmaster. Adkins was also concertmaster of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, and she has been guest concertmaster at the Indianapolis, Oregon, and Grant Park symphonies as well as the Hong Kong Philharmonic. For fifteen years she performed in the Adkins String Ensemble with her siblings, who included titled players in the Dallas, Houston, and National symphony orchestras. Adkins holds a master’s degree from New England Conservatory and a bachelor’s from the University of North Texas.
