Last week, a cyberattack shut down the box office and website of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. All performances proceeded as scheduled, although the Met has been unable to sell new tickets. On Friday, the Met announced that tickets are now being sold on a site hosted by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts; the Metropolitan Opera House is located on the Lincoln Center campus. The Met is selling $50 general admission tickets for selected performances on the site. At this time of year, the New York Times reports, the company’s ticketing systems typically handle about $200,000 in sales each day.
