The Austin Symphony Orchestra and the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin, Texas have announced that they will produce the state’s first-ever Texas Young Composers Concert on April 20. The program at the Long Center will feature twelve new orchestral works by Texas students aged 18 or under from Austin (Sam Melnick, Brennan Anderson, Samuel Hooper, William Campbell), Alamo Heights (Jack Roberts), Cedar Park (Wyatt Hahn), Cibolo (Mickailis Molina), Lubbock (Benham Arzaghi), Round Rock (Matthew White, Jared Beu, Wells Leng), and Waco (Christian Paarup). Compositions were chosen from among 25 entries to the orchestra’s first Young Composers Competition, held this past fall. Four of those compositions were premiered during the ASO’s High School Concerts tour in January.
