Ohio’s Canton Symphony Orchestra is partnering with Neos Dance Theatre for its April 21 performance of Orff’s Carmina Burana, featuring new choreography. Music Director Gerhardt Zimmermann will lead combined forces that include the Canton Symphony, Canton Symphony Chorus, Malone University Chamber Choir, Summit Choral Society, and vocal soloists. The performance will feature special lighting and visuals onscreen above the stage. Neos Dance Theatre is based in Akron, Mansfield, and Oberlin, Ohio, and has previously performed with area organizations such as the Akron Symphony Orchestra, the University of Akron’s Dance Institute, and the Children’s Concert Society. The Canton Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1937, performs concerts and offers educational programs at Zimmermann Symphony Center’s Umstattd Performing Arts Hall as well as other regional venues.
