In Friday’s (9/6) Idaho Falls Post Register, Cody McDevitt writes, “The upcoming season for the Idaho Falls Symphony will showcase music from around the world—be it Russia, Mexico, Italy or Germany. Thomas Heuser, the symphony’s 31-year-old director/conductor, said it’s his responsibility to create the themes that unite every performance during the season. ‘Each year’s focus needs to reflect a different focus,’ Heuser said. ‘The onus on me is to create a program that is cohesive and has themes running through it. There are a couple of themes we’re hoping to focus on.’ Heuser has won praise from the symphony’s musicians performing under his direction, as well as from symphony Executive Director Tally Adler. Musicians, patrons and members of the search committee were unanimous in their choice of Heuser as director. … Kristen Bull, a 31-year-old oboe player, said Heuser motivated her to become a better musician. … Heuser appreciates the praise but said it’s as much an opportunity for him to work with the musicians here as it is for them to work with him. ‘That’s very flattering, but to be honest,’ he said, ‘this is a perfect situation for someone in my position. I’m relatively young in the conducting world. To get a start with an orchestra of this quality is a great honor.’ ”
