Members of the ISO Symphony of the InterSchool Orchestras of New York found themselves on the USA Network’s medical comedy-drama Royal Pains on July 17. The series, featuring a concierge doctor’s practice in the Hamptons, N.Y., required the youth orchestra’s musicians to stand in for a fictional orchestra whose conductor is one of the patients-of-the-week in the current season’s fifth episode, “Vertigo.” The ISO Symphony gave live performances of Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, and Rimsky-Korsakov, excerpts of which can be heard on the episode’s soundtrack. ISO musicians took part in three days of taping, both in a Brooklyn studio and on location on Long Island. The entire program can be downloaded at www.usanetwork.com, Amazon.com, or iTunes.
