On March 26 at 7 p.m., the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra in Pennsylvania will present a virtual performance of music by Valerie Coleman and Francis Poulenc, featuring the orchestra’s principal woodwinds. The concert is the second of five free virtual performances by ensembles from the orchestra through May 7. Featured works on March 26 will be Valerie Coleman’s Umoja for Wind Quintet and Francis Poulenc’s Sextet for Piano and Winds (1933), with guest pianist Maria Thompson Corley. The free performance will be available to stream from the orchestra’s new LSO at Home platform. Coleman is a founding member of the Imani Winds chamber ensemble; Umoja for Wind Quintet has become a signature piece of Imani Winds since it was first performed in 2001.
