John S. Robinson has been named executive director of Music@Menlo in California.

John S. Robinson has been appointed executive director of Music@Menlo, the chamber music festival and institute in Atherton, California. He is currently director of leadership gifts at the Asia Foundation in San Francisco and served in similar roles at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and San Francisco’s Community Music Center. Robinson was previously executive director of the Santa Barbara Symphony and San Francisco Classical Voice. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Haverford College, a Master of Music degree from New England Conservatory, and professional leadership certifications from Harvard Kennedy School and Stanford University. At Music@Menlo, Robinson succeeds Edward P. Sweeney, who served as executive director for the past eighteen years. Sweeney led Music@Menlo through two successful capital campaigns and collaborated with Menlo School on the design and construction of the Spieker Center for the Arts. Cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han are artistic directors of Music@Menlo.
