The Philadelphia Orchestra will live-broadcast its October 22 concert at Verizon Hall to movie theaters throughout the U.S. The broadcast, through NCM Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network, will be broadcast to hundreds of locations live. The Verizon Hall program, celebrating the 200th birthday of Franz Liszt (October 22, 1811 – July 31, 1886), will be led by Chief  Conductor Charles Dutoit and feature pianist Lang Lang in performances of Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2; also on the program is Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10. Prior to the live broadcast, participating movie theaters will also air footage of Lang Lang from the 2011 iTunes Festival in London, with behind-the-scenes interviews and commentary. A rebroadcast of the October 22 concert will be shown at select movie theaters on October 24.
