“Symphony NH is bringing together military personnel, community members and a seasoned pianist,” Max Levinson, for its Saturday “Power Play” concert featuring Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, writes Kate Gardner in Thursday’s (4/17) Telegraph (Nashua, N.H.; subscription required). “Symphony NH, founded in 1923, is a full symphony orchestra with 60 players from the southern New Hampshire and greater Boston area.… Of the 800-900 expected guests, some will be military personnel who have received free tickets through Symphony NH’s partnership with BAE Systems. Two hundred free tickets are being given to military veterans and active members from the Hanscom and Pease facilities. ‘For eight years now, BAE Systems has supported Symphony NH in a substantial way,’ [Symphony NH’s executive director Eric] Valliere said…. Valliere emphasized that the ‘Power Play’ concert, as well as all Symphony NH performances, are open to everyone [and that] the atmosphere is low-key and laid back…. ‘This music was written for people to experience live in a room full of other people,’ Valliere said. ‘That experience is very powerful.’ ”
