“Minnesota’s support for the arts got the attention of Stephanie Rosenbaum as she considered a career move from her native California,” writes Dennis Doeden in Friday’s (8/2) Bemidji Pioneer (Bemidji, MN). “Now, two months after starting her new job as executive director of the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra, Rosenbaum is seeing that support up close…. ‘The state of Minnesota has one of the highest per capita arts funding of any state,’ Rosenbaum said…. ‘I wanted a place that’s going to have vibrant culture. And I really like the fact that it’s a college town.’ … Rosenbaum grew up near Monterey, Calif. [and] was director of operations for [Ensemble Monterey Chamber Orchestra] before moving to Bemidji. ‘She’s got a lot of wonderful experience in arts administration and brings that to our community,’ said Beverly Everett, music director and conductor of the BSO. ‘She has a good positive energy about her.’ … Rosenbaum hopes to extend the BSO’s reach in the community and region and grow its audience base. That could include developing a youth orchestra … ‘to get younger folks, people who didn’t necessarily grow up with that traditional art form in the home.’ ”
