Bachtrack, the European online publication which runs wide-ranging listings of performing arts events, has published its annual compilation of classical music concerts, composers, artists, and activities. The site tallies numbers for categories such as number of performances of twentieth-century and contemporary music; number of concerts featuring works by contemporary women composers; percentage of contemporary music performed in various countries (Sweden, at 15.4%, edges out the U.S. at 15.3%), and number of concerts by performers and ensembles. The site notes that its Annual Statistics are based on events listed by Bachtrack only; while the site’s listings are extensive, “they are not exhaustive, and necessarily represent a sample of the overall picture.” An article and infographic summary are here.
