The Philadelphia Orchestra has announced that brothers Kevin and Michael Bacon will host the Academy of Music 157th Anniversary Concert and Ball on January 25, which benefits the both the orchestra and the Academy of Music Restoration Fund. The Bacon Brothers—the band formed in 1995 between Kevin Bacon and Michael Bacon—will also perform at a post-concert celebration at the Hyatt. The brothers are natives of Philadelphia whose father, Edmund Norwood Bacon, was an architect and longtime executive director of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission. At the January 25 concert, Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin will lead the Philadelphians at the Academy of Music, the orchestra’s home until 2001, when it moved to the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Also performing at the concert will be jazz pianist and record producer Robert Glasper, pianist Stewart Goodyear, and singer/songwriter/actress Jill Scott.
