In Thursday’s (1/9) News-Sentinel (Fort Wayne, Indiana), Kevin Kilbane writes about the Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s upcoming concert featuring Copland’s “A Lincoln Portrait,” as well as music by Debussy, Vaughan Williams, and Antheil. “ ‘Of all of the Masterworks concerts this year, this probably is the most unique as far as presentation and audience experience,’ said J.L. Nave III, the orchestra’s president and CEO.” The performance will feature photochoreography projected on three screens suspended above the orchestra, and the guest narrator will be Johnny Warren, a local Lincoln Financial Group employee. In the article Warren speaks about the process the resulted in his being selected as narrator: “I participated in an audition that was open to Fort Wayne-based Lincoln employees. About 20 people auditioned in October before a panel of judges including Andrew Constantine, (Philharmonic) music director; Jeff Hunsinger, (Philharmonic) general manager; and Adrian Mann, principal bassist from the Phil; as well as Nancy Rogers from Lincoln Financial Foundation, at our Lincoln offices downtown…. I was very active in theater, public speaking and show choir from middle school through college. However, this will be my first time performing on stage in almost 11 years. I’m very excited to be back on stage and to be making my debut at the Embassy Theatre!”
