In the San Diego Union-Tribune on Friday (1/24), James Chute reports the death of Lisa Baker, the San Diego Symphony’s associate director of marketing and ticket services. Chute quotes from the official statement issued by San Diego Symphony CEO Edward B. Gill: “ ‘Our dear friend and colleague, Lisa Baker, passed away unexpectedly this past weekend after a short illness. A longtime and devoted employee, Lisa had been with the San Diego Symphony for 15 years. She managed the box office operations and was instrumental in implementation of the Symphony’s marketing campaigns while serving the needs of patrons and donors alike.… Throughout her tenure, Lisa interacted daily with Symphony patrons, board of directors, musicians, staff, ushers, and of course everyone knew Lisa.… Lisa was a true patron of the arts and attended countless concert, theatre, movie and dance productions throughout the years.’ ” She is survived by her brother, Terry Hyrne; his wife, Selma; and their daughters, Jennifer and Elizabeth Hyrne. A memorial service will take place in early February, and the orchestra plans to devote two upcoming concerts to her memory: a Fox Theatre Film Series concert on February 1 and a pops concert on July 13.
