“The St. Louis Symphony went nationwide and prime time Monday, when one of the characters on ‘How I Met Your Mother’ gave the classical music makers a shout-out,” writes Joe Holleman in Tuesday’s (2/4) St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “About 13 minutes into the episode which aired Monday night, lead character Ted (Josh Radnor) tells Robin (Cobie Smulders) that he is moving to Chicago to work for an architectural firm that ‘just designed this clamshell building for the St. Louis Symphony.’ Adam Crane, the symphony’s veep for community affairs, said he found out about the name drop through social media. ‘It caught my eye on Twitter. One of our biggest live radio broadcast fans broke the news to me,’ said Crane, who then got on Twitter to see if a certain cast member could verify. ‘I direct-messaged Neil Patrick Harris just for fun to see if he could share the context,’ Crane said. ‘No reply yet.’ Erika Ebsworth-Goold, the orchestra’s publicist, laughed when told of the situation. ‘The St. Louis Symphony is truly everywhere,’ she said, adding that the line likely refers to the structure the symphony uses to perform in Forest Park.”
