In Connecticut, the Stamford Symphony and the HARTT School of Music have announced a new initiative for HARTT School students focusing on training and mentorship in preparation for developing an orchestra career. The first two fellows chosen for the annual program are violinist Chaeyong Son and cellist Jinyoung Son, who performed in the Stamford Symphony’s March 1 and 2 concerts featuring music by Borodin, Ravel, and Rimsky-Korsakov. The two musicians, chosen by blind audition, worked with HARTT School faculty prior to the concerts; received coachings with principal musicians in the Stamford Symphony as well as mentoring sessions with Music Director Eckart Preu and CEO Barbara Soroca; and traveled to New York City to rehearse with the orchestra and attend music performances.
